WHAT TO KNOW

HONG KONG GENERAL INFORMATION

All arrivals come into the Main Terminal Building's Arrival Hall. From there, after Customs, simply head straight ahead outside the airport where you'll see the Transportation Centre on the same level as the Arrival Hall. The location of various ground transportation services is given above.

Fare to Hong Kong Island (Central)

Our recommended (and the quickest, most efficient) way to get into the city is via the sleek Airport Express Line, which provides comfortable, business-class seating and seat-back TVs with flight information, news, and entertainment programs. The train's route takes you across the coast of Lantau Island, over the Kap Shui bridge, through the viaducts on Ma Wan Island, across the massive Tsing Ma suspension bridge and down the fully-reclaimed land of West Kowloon before finally plunging under Victoria Harbour and rising up on Exchange Square in Central.
One of the largest engineering projects ever, the railway/highway line is one of the few in the world built as a dedicated link between an airport and a city center. Trains run every ten minutes between 5:50 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. and take 22 minutes to reach Kowloon Station near hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui and Yau Ma Tei,  and 24 minutes to reach Hong Kong Station in the Central District on Hong Kong Island. Both Kowloon and Hong Kong stations are served by free MTR shuttle buses and by taxi service. The Hong Kong station is not far from Central's MTR subway station. In addition, more than 15 hotels provide free shuttle service between Hong Kong or Kowloon Station to their hotel. MTR free shuttle bus numbers, times and routes are given below.

Taxi Service

Fare to Kowloon (approximately)
HK$240 to Tsim Sha Tsui, ranges from HK$225 to HK$ 285 for different areas of Kowloon
Fare to Hong Kong Island (Central)
HK$295 to Central, ranges from HK$285 to HK$355 depending where you want to go on the island
Certainly the easiest way into the city is to jump into one of the hundreds of metered, air-conditioned taxi cabs awaiting you at the airport and go. With the train, you'll need to get off and get a shuttle bus or a subway to get to your final destination. The taxi driver can, of course, hand your bags to your bellman! But at a price. Though relatively cheap for short distances, a Hong Kong taxi can be an expensive option for the long trip in from the airport. The price does include all bridge tolls and tunnel charges.

Public Bus Services

Fare to Kowloon
HK$33 to Hung Hom Station, the A21 will take you to Hung Hom and stops at the TST MTR, Middle/Nathan road intersection, and the Mody/Chatham road intersection.

Please Note: All information above is current as of Summer 2014. Prices may rise without notice here, but only the AEL price has changed slightly in the last ten years!
